About Psychology, MSc - at University of Plymouth

The aim of the programme is to provide a fundamental background in the core areas of psychology, leading to eligibility for Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society.Special featuresGraduate Basis for Registration (GBR) with the British Psychological Society is the minimum qualification for many types of further training in psychology, as well as for licensing as a professional psychologist Gaining entry for GBR normally requires an honours degree in psychology, entailling 3 years of study. However, through this one-year intensive programme, you will become eligible for GBR, given that you have already obtained a first degree that includes 60 credits of psychology.General programme structureThe programme includes 120 credit hours of taught coursework, and 60 credit hours of an independent research project, culminating in a dissertation. Taught modules include: cognitive and biological psychology II (20 credits); social, developmental, individual diferences and clinical psychology I (20 credits); social and developmental psychology II (20 credits); research methods in psychology (20 credits); and dissertation project (20 credits).Entry requirementsStudents must have successfully completed a first degree and must have obtained a minimum of 60 credits in psychology prior to enrolling on this programme.
