About Bilingual Learners, MA - at University College London (UCL)

This masters degree will:

  • develop your understanding of the linguistic and cultural resources and needs of minority ethnic and bilingual learners
  • equip you with knowledge about language description, and the ways that bilingual learners acquire and use language in schools and colleges in the UK and internationally
  • emphasise the ways in which teachers can best support the language and literacy development of children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
  • cover the needs and circumstances of the range of bilingual learners from nursery level to young adults.

By coursework assignments of up to 5,000 words and a dissertation portfolio of up to 17,500 words.

Entry requirements

1. Students are normally required to have a minimum overall IELTS score of 7.0 for direct entry, with a score of no lower than 6.0 for writing and 6.5 for reading. 2. A good first degree. Most applicants have a teaching qualification, but this is not a formal requirement.
