About Psychology, MSc, PG Dip - at Sheffield Hallam University

This course is for non psychology graduates with some previous study in the subject, including joint psychology degrees not accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS)http://www.bps.org.uk/. The course gives you a thorough knowledge and scientific understanding of the BPS core areas of psychology, allowing you to qualify for the Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR) training in skills needed to research and enhance the subject improved independence and employability through evaluative and reflective skills learning opportunities addressing issues at the forefront of the subject a supportive, engaging, enjoyable and challenging learning experience If you only want to gain GBR, and to undertake the minimum number of credits, you may prefer to take the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology. If you are considering further training in areas such as educational or clinical psychology, where more emphasis is placed on research experience, it is advisable to take the masters. The course gives you the core academic and subject specific skills needed to pursue a career in psychology. The major career routes are * clinical psychology * educational psychology * occupational psychology * health psychology * forensic psychology * counselling psychology. Further work experience in a relevant setting is usually required before you can begin a postgraduate training course in one of these areas.
